Get the Best ROI From Your Education

Everything in America simply costs more these days. In addition to consumer goods, housing, and health care, you'll spend more of your hard-earned dollars on your education than ever before. In the last decade, in-state college tuition at many public colleges and universities has risen by as much as 37 percent. That's why today's students--whether they're first-time degree seekers or adults returning to college for additional career training--are crunching the numbers.

Some online college degree and career training programs offer accredited instruction at annual costs lower than the 2009 average public school price tag of $14,333 for housing, books, and tuition, or the private school average of $34,132. But whether they choose an online college or brick and mortar institution, students are evaluating projections for the job market in terms of earnings and openings.

If you're in search for the most bang for your education buck, here are some top-paying careers with solid employment opportunities for grads from associate, bachelor's, and graduate degree programs:
Associate Degree Wonders

Want to spend two years in college and launch your first career or new profession ASAP? The health care industry is predicted to add three million new jobs between 2006 and 2016. Look over these hot options:

* Radiation Therapist. Earn an associate's degree and begin treating patients in hospitals, clinics, and private physicians' offices. Job growth is predicted at 25 percent during the 2006-2016 decade. Median wages in 2008 were $72,910.
* Dental Hygienist. You can train for this career online and practice on campus during lab hours as part of your associate's degree. Projected openings from 2006 to 2016 top out at 30 percent, making this career choice a winner for many. Median wages in 2008 were $66,570.

Bachelor's Degree Power Lifters

Many professions these days require you to hold a bachelor's degree. If you've already earned a two-year degree, two more years of career training can put you at the front of the hiring line for these often well-paid and fast-budding professions:

* Environmental Engineer. As America goes green, so will many traditional technical jobs. Environmental engineers will enjoy an exceptional 25 percent job growth during the 2006-2016 decade. Earn your bachelor's degree and work on developing solutions that prevent or eliminate environmental hazards. Median 2008 annual earnings were $74,020, with top salaries at $115,430.
* Accountant. Math and business courses are king for today's college students. Start by earning your online bachelor's degree in accounting, then take test prep courses to pass your CPA exams for top earnings. Job growth is predicted to reach 18 percent through the 2006 to 2016 decade. 2008 median annual wages were $59,430, with top-paid accountants taking home six figures.

Master's Degree Paydays

Earn your graduate degree and get paid. If you hold an undergraduate degree, online master's degree programs can qualify you for advancement to administrative or management roles in your professional group. Openings for master's degree holders are expected in health care, finance, education, and commerce. Here are three exceptional options:

* Personal Financial Advisor. You might land a job with a financial services or consulting firm with as little as a bachelor's degree, but earning your M.B.A. can really position you for success at the top of a firm or in opening your own consultancy. Median 2008 earnings were $69,050, with high end of the scale surpassing $100,000. Even better: Job growth for personal financial advisors is predicted to reach 37 percent between 2006 and 2016.
* Health Care Administrator. If you have a background in management or in health care, earning your M.B.A. in finance, human resource management, or operations can land you this exceptional role. A faster-than-average 16 percent increase in jobs for health care administrators is predicted between 2006 and 2016. The 2008 median annual wage for administrators was $80,240, with the top 10 percent of professionals averaging $132,580.
* Physical Therapist. A third of the nation's physical therapist career training programs offer master's degrees, with the balance leading to a doctoral degree. Job opportunities will be strong in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation facilities. Projections call for a healthy 27 percent increase in jobs in the 2006 to 2016 decade. The median 2008 annual wage was $72,790.

There's no black magic in finding the best potential return on your educational investment of time and money. At the bottom line, you always earn the best odds for success if you love the career choice you make and enjoy showing up for work.

How come you don't care about your education?
Most people I know think school's a joke, they don't even try and do poorly in school. When the report cards come they get C's, D's, and F's.And don't even care.

And smart people get labeled "nerds".
Which to me is stupid.I can't believe there's a name for someone that is smart and it means a bad thing. Is being smart really that bad?

Where I use to live, school is very important. That's a kid's first priority as a student. Teachers there are really strict, but that's what makes a good teacher. They come to school everyday unless they are sick (which is rarely).

Here in the U.S. it's the exact opposite, we have schools and money to get a good education, yet we don't use it and don't take advantage of that.We ditch school when we feel like it or slack off in class or talk back to the teacher.
I seen some parents who don't even care so their child doesn't either.
Other parts of the world like Africa, they aren't that lucky to have the education like we do.

Filosofi pensil, inspirasi kehidupan

. Kamis, 11 Juni 2009

Children Care (Project in Lombok)

. Rabu, 10 Juni 2009

The number of street children in Indonesia and other developing countries is enormous (and increasing). To help these children, a new large project area is in the process of being constructed. A large piece of land (12.000 m2) situated among the rice paddies and the famous mountain ‘Gunung Rinjani’, has proved to be the ideal location for Project Lombok.

Project Lombok has the ability to utilize its three shelters (maximum capacity: 144 children), fully equipped medical facility, two schools for primary and handicraft education, and extensive infrastructure (which consists of an office/staff building, two water towers, two wells, a large playground, a football field, a central kitchen facility, an emergency power house, a swimming pool and a handicraft school) in order to help the street children of Lombok.

In January 2007, the first shelter was completed, as well as the office/staff building, one water tower, the emergency power house, the central kitchen facility and the primary school. In December 2007 the second shelter and the handicraft school was completed. The new project area opened its doors for the first group of (former) street children in February 2007.

Promo Docu-Film "I Want to be a Doctor", see the work of Peduli Anak.
"I Want to be a Doctor" is a short promo docu-film about an 8-year-old boy, Sugeng. We will see two opposites lives of Sugeng. The first part of the docu-film portrays his life as a child who works in a garbage dump. He has to work under the heating sun and breathe obnoxious smell from heaps of garbage. It isn't long until he leaves the place and wanders at beaches and on streets, along with other street children. Yet, beaches and streets are not a safe place for children. They are prone to sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.Sugeng also shares a depressing story about his family. One night, a social worker from Peduli Anak Foundation finds him and other children. The foundation works to improve the life of street children like Sugeng. The second part gives us the big picture of the foundation's work. Sugeng, now having lived in Peduli Anak for three years, takes us on a tour to see his daily activities. We can see how Peduli Anak has changed his life from a sad and no-future street child to a happy and smart boy.

Does this situtation make you mad, and would you change it if you could?

Does this situtation make you mad, and would you change it if you could?
There is a guy who is forced to pay child support. He would have rather raised his kids the way that his father raised him. But he was not given that choice. Since he was not given the choice of being the father that he was raised to be, he payed the child support and became the father that he was forced to become. he couldnt afford to see his kids or buy them anything because the governemt took every extra penny he had. The mother took the money and spent it on clothes and getting her hair and nails done and drugs.
Eventually the child grew up and became a menace to society because he looked at his father as a bumb because all of the money he had went to child support. The child was so disgusted with his fathers condition, and the fact that his mom squandered every penny he was entitled to, that he decided to turn to crime because he didnt want to be broke like his father. So, the child eventually robbed and killed another person and was sent to jail for 25 years to life...

What would you do to change the situation?

Do you think that a man should have a choice of paying child support?

do you think a woman should be force to follow some sort of budget with the money she is given?

This is a very true story... what would you do to change the situation??
